Aluminium flanges are flanges made of aluminium alloy EN AC 47000 by die casting. They are also known as lap joint flanges to be joint by means of welding collars, that is why they are called ‘loose flanges', because the fluid is not in contact with the flange but rather with the collar to which the pipe is welded.
This type of aluminium flanges are an interesting alternative to other materials because they boast good corrosion resistance and robustness, but are very cheap and lightweight. Aluminium flanges are mainly used in systems with medium to low pressures for the circulation of water or other fluids.
